Honoured to have been asked by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Sunderland 2026- 2027 Robert Hutchinson to entertain at his charity event to raise money for local charities.
I first met Robert when I was a teenager ( a couple of years ago!) my father was his bank manager. When you used to have proper bank mangers who you could actually meet face to face and discuss a business idea.
At 18 years old I was awarded a grant of almost £1000 by the Princess Trust to help me get started in my career as a professional magician.
Roberts company “Innovation Power” now the leading independent temporary power supplier in the UK, advised on and provide my first PA.System and radio microphones.
Robert also designed and built the electronics for a full sized tailors dummy so that I could learn the art of pickpocketing. A loud buzzer would sound if I was clumsy and touched any part of the dummy’s body whilst sealing from the jacket pockets.
It made headlines in all the national newspapers back in the day. The Daily Star called me ‘Pickpocket by Royal Appointment’
It was a pleasure to see Robert again after all of these years for a catch up and to entertain his guests, over 100 of them including 7 other Mayors, with drinks reception magic followed by some table magic before guests enjoyed their meal.
A fantastic event with a wonderful atmosphere and £2000 was raised for Sunderland charities ….MAGIC!
